Salpointe's Class of 2020 at freshman orientation

Salpointe Catholic Welcomes the Freshman Class of 2020

Salpointe Catholic welcomed 315 freshmen last week, the Class of 2020.

Salpointe Catholic High School recently welcomed 315 freshmen, continuing an upward trend in enrollment. Students in the freshman class come from 70 public, private and charter schools across Southern Arizona. The school also welcomed more than 30 transfer students including seven international students.

"We are thrilled to welcome the Class of 2020 as well as our transfer students into the Salpointe family. We wish them the greatest success as they begin this year as Salpointe Lancers," said President Kay Sullivan.

Salpointe’s enrollment has grown to a diverse population of 1,132 Lancers: half of the school’s students are of ethnic minority and half of the student body qualifies for financial aid. One factor leading to increased enrollment at Salpointe is the affordability of a private, college-preparatory education due to Arizona’s school tax credit. For the 2016-17 school year, qualified families received $3M in financial aid thanks to corporate and individual tax credits and the school’s endowed and general scholarship funds.

Regardless of ethnic, academic or economic background, 99% of Salpointe students continue on to colleges, universities and military academies around the world.

To kick off the school year, Salpointe launched a new website, still accessible at www.salpointe.org. A new feature is the “myPointe” web portal for students, parents, alumni and employees which provides access to personalized, customized information that correlates with the user’s affiliation with the school.

The new web system allows us to connect the Salpointe community in a more integrated, mobile-friendly, and customized way and we hope families share our enthusiasm for the exciting technological advancement it brings to the student and parent experience,” said Principal Sr. Helen Timothy, IBVM.
