Junior Promotes Higher Ed for Native Students

Lancer junior takes opportunity to educate Native students about higher educational opportunities through her role as Tohono O'odham Rodeo Queen.
Salpointe junior, Kiara Begay, is the Tohono O'odham Nation's 2018 Rodeo Queen.

Her platform as Rodeo Queen is to promote higher education for Native students. Yesterday she delivered a presentation for Native American students at Salpointe about opportunities here in Arizona and nationally to prepare for college and connect with scholarships. Students received printed material and had the chance to hear about Kiara's participation in College Horizons last summer as well as ASU's Inspire summer program, and the University of Arizona's Native American Science and Engineering Program (NASEP).

Kiara is not only a skilled horse rider, but excels in school and is a member of the National Honor Society and the medical and philanthropic clubs.
