Salpointe Cares

Like people all over the world, Salpointe families have suffered from job losses, health scares and financial challenges due to COVID-19. In response to our community's critical needs, the Salpointe Advancement Department launched a unique support program in April.

"The concept of a mutual aid society was new to me," says Advancement Director Jennifer Harris, "but our families were struggling and I was searching for a way for Salpointe to help."

What Jennifer found was a model for community support that she adapted into the Salpointe Cares program. Funds are donated by those who can and then distributed to those who have need.

"Donors have fed hungry children, kept the lights on in homes, helped pay funeral expenses, purchased eyeglasses for visually impaired students, paid tuition and so much more," says Jennifer.

Since the program began in April, the Salpointe community's generous donations totaling more than $30,000 have helped 57 families survive the challenges of COVID. The Salpointe Cares program is a shining example of how Lancers truly live the Carmelite charism of prayer, community and service.
