Parent Letter - Return to Hybrid Learning Health and Safety Protocols

February 10, 2021

Dear Lancer Parents,

We thank you for your patience and support over these past months as we moved from distance to hybrid to distance learning, following the recommendations of Arizona Department of Health Services. The metrics for case positives per 100K, percent positivity in transmission rates, and hospitalizations with COVID-like illnesses in Pima County have dramatically declined over the past two weeks and we are hopeful that this downward trend will continue. Therefore, Salpointe Catholic will resume hybrid education on Monday, February 15.

We will once again implement the ABC schedule:

Mondays:       Schedule A (A-L) on campus
Tuesdays:       Schedule B (A-L) on campus
Wednesdays:  Schedule A (M-Z) on campus
Thursdays:      Schedule B (M-Z) on campus
Fridays:           Schedule C (all students distance learning)

At home learning will be provided synchronously for those students who have signed up for this model of education. If you have any questions about at home learning, please contact Mr. Jeff Mounts at jmounts@salpointe.org or 520-547-5906.

During rodeo week, we will follow this schedule: Monday, February 22 schedule A (A-L) on campus; Tuesday, February 23 schedule B (A-L) on campus; and Wednesday, February 24 schedule C (all distance learning). Please see the school calendar for more information about Salpointe’s upcoming academic schedule.

Breakfast will be served Monday - Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30. The bistro will be open and daily lunches will be served according to your student’s schedule. Students will maintain social distancing during lunch as we utilize both Foundation and Alumni Halls and the Carmelite Plaza.

Salpointe will continue to enforce all of the health and safety protocols established last semester:
  • Mask mandate (All persons on campus will wear masks covering the mouth and nose. Masks should have at least two layers of fabric with no racial, sexual, political, inappropriate messaging. No bandanas or gaiters.)
  • Daily temperature checks
  • Daily symptom screening
  • Social distancing in classrooms and at lunch
  • Extended passing periods
  • Plexiglass protectors in high traffic areas
  • Air filtration and fresh air intake in all classrooms, etc.
Please keep your student home if he/she is experiencing any of the following symptoms:
  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue, muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
Please contact nurse Kara Kohnke in the Health Office at kkohnke@salpointe.org or 520-547-9395 if your student is exposed to COVID or tests positive for COVID. It is important that Salpointe is aware of any possible exposures. Please contact Cecilia Parsons in the Attendance Office at attendance@salpointe.org or 520-327-1990 if your student will be absent from school or from a class.

Salpointe will continue to offer small group, more easily controlled activities, such as athletics, theater, Kairos, senior traditions, etc. as long as health and safety guidelines are exercised. Senior Sunrise will take place in Ed Doherty Stadium on Friday, February 12 at 6:30 a.m.

Our faculty and staff are included in the 1B category for vaccinations and we look forward to having most vaccinations completed by mid March.

If you have questions or concerns, please reply to this email. Again, thank you for your support and patience throughout this pandemic.
Sincerely,

Kay Sullivan       Keith Gibalski
