Final Exams Schedule

NEEDED: Salpointe Thrift Shop Volunteers
The Salpointe Thrift Shop is in urgent need of volunteers. They are located minutes down the road from Salpointe at 1705 E. Ft. Lowell. To volunteer or for more information, please contact Sandra Velasquez at 520-975-0467.
 
Racing The Sun Event
Support our Racing The Sun team at the Solar Kart Races happening this Saturday, April 24, beginning at 11 a.m. at the UA Tech Park. Please see this flyer for additional information. Go Lancers!
 
Senior Slideshow Photos
Seniors and senior parents: Don't forget to submit your pictures for the Senior Slideshow! Please submit one current picture, one baby picture and one picture with friends. Submissions are due by May 1. Click HERE to submit photos.
 
Summer School and Financial Aid Assistance
Salpointe will run in-person Summer School this year. Session 1 will run from May 24 to June 10. Session 2 will run from June 14 to June 30. The Summer School Resource Board is now available in MyPointe with a link to a Google Form to sign up. Additional information on financial aid, class schedules and more can be found on the Summer School page on our website.
 
If you are in need of financial assistance to cover summer school, please click here (ApplicationFAQs) to begin the process. Be sure to read the instructions carefully. Also, please note that the deadline to apply is April 25, 2021. A family must be Corporate Eligible to apply. Please contact our Financial Aid Manager, Theresa Lehrling, at accountmgmt@salpointe.org for additional information.
 
Get The Vaccine!
The health and wellbeing of our students, families, faculty and staff is the top priority for Salpointe. We strongly encourage all Lancer students, age 16+, to get the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible. If you have any questions about the vaccine for teenagers, we encourage you to visit this webpage from Banner Healthcare or contact our health office (kkohnke@salpointe.org).

Emergency Funding with IBE
IBE is offering emergency financial assistance for families who have suffered hardship during the 2020-21 school year. If you are in need of emergency funds, please submit a detailed message of special circumstance to IBE at services@ibescholarships.org. Please note: you must have a current 2020-21 IBE application on file in order to apply.  For more information or questions on IBE Emergency Funds, please contact our Financial Aid Manager, Theresa Lehrling, at accountmgmt@salpointe.org.

Apply at www.asct.org. Application fee is $35 and the deadline is April 30, 2021.
 
Arizona Private Education Scholarship Fund (APESF)

The Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) program is accepting applications for the 2021-2022 school year. You can apply at https://esa.azed.gov/Account. Please note: ESA recipients cannot combine ESA funds with additional School Tuition Organization (STO) financial aid and/or tax credit funds. For more information on the ESA program, contact Theresa Lehrling at accountmgmt@salpointe.org.

Character Counts
Our commentaries this week dealt with two key issues of integrity. Wednesday morning, Sophia Baker gave a different twist on how people perceive fairness (Fairness in Life). Thursday morning, Diego Marquez pointed to the importance of taking responsibility for our own choices and actions (Act Responsibly - Show You Care).  Follow the links to see the full messages!
 
College Counseling
Congratulations to seniors in the Class of 2021 on their acceptances to over 135 colleges and universities in the U.S. and abroad. As of today, seniors have been offered $18,734,439 in academic scholarships over 4 years of college. We look forward to hearing more news in the next week. Juniors: Our final Get Out of Town Workshop for this semester will be Saturday, April 24 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. It will be done virtually through Google Meet. There will be two more workshops in August. This is a required step if you plan to apply to colleges out of state. You and at least one parent should attend from the comfort of home. Please register immediately at: GOOT Registration, Class of 2022.
 
Juniors, seniors and parents: Did you know that you can earn a Bachelor’s degree from The Catholic University in Tucson at a very affordable cost? Join us for an upcoming information meeting on May 1 to learn more. Details at Catholic U Tucson. We also have a short five-minute video about the program.
 
Grand Canyon University invites juniors and their parents to learn about the vibrant spiritual life on campus, visit the Catholic Newman Center and see GCU’s mission at work. You will also learn about academic programs, scholarships and campus life. Lunch will be provided. It's happening this Saturday, April 24 from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. on the GCU campus. Summer opportunity: The application deadline has been extended for the FBI Teen Academy, a behind-the-scenes look at the FBI. You will interact with special agents, intelligence analysts, special weapons and tactics and the evidence response teams. Classes are held virtually from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Thursdays from June 17 to July 8, followed by an in-person experience in both Phoenix and Tucson. Deadline for this competitive application is May 14, 2021. Apply at FBI Teen Academy.

Graduation is right around the corner! The Spirit Store has many special gifts for your grad, including alumni t-shirts and polos, triple-function Salpointe pens, paper weights, handmade glass and wooden crosses and much more. Come in to see all of our great gift ideas!
 
Save the date: June 12 will be our annual Book Swap. More details to come. We will have our online pre-order for uniform polos (to be picked up at the book swap) starting in May.
