Announcements

Welcome Message From Salpointe's President and Principal
Dear Salpointe families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 Salpointe Lancer school year! We are so excited to begin the year in-person, five days a week. Our number one priority is to keep our school open and our students on campus all year long.

This week and next are packed with fun back to school activities for our Lancers. On Monday, we welcomed the Class of 2025 with tours of the school, ice breakers, classroom visits, the traditional Where’s Waldo skit, fashion show and free lunch. On Tuesday, we filled our classrooms with all 1270 Lancers!

Here is a sampling of happenings on campus:
  • Senior class gathered to watch the sunrise and enjoy breakfast thanks to SPA
  • Fall sports tryouts and practices started this week
  • Team meetings for softball, baseball and esports take place next week
  • Salpointe Ambassador Leaders (SAL) and Peer Mentors are looking for new members
  • Fr. Manu is inviting students to become liturgical ministers
  • Drama department is preparing for the fall production
  • Clubs such as Model UN and Beads of Courage are scheduling organizational meetings.
Our campus is teeming with positive energy as we encourage engagement by every Lancer!

Each week in this publication, we will share the number of Covid positives for the week. We are delighted to report that as of today, we have zero new cases. Two students are in isolation due to testing positive the week before school started. As of today, 56% or 713 of our students have uploaded their vaccination cards to myPointe.

Please pray for a student, an employee and a parent who are facing serious health challenges.

Finally, we hope to see all parents on Monday, August 30 from 5:00 to 7:30 for Back to School night when you can visit with all of your Lancer’s teachers. Save the date!

Blessings,

Kay Sullivan      Keith Gibalski
President          Principal

This CDC-funded ancillary study will help researchers learn more about SARS-CoV-2 infection in children and teenagers and how well the COVID-19 vaccine protects from infection. Click here for more information.

Athletics

Lancers Ranked #1 in Arizona
It was an outstanding year for Salpointe athletics as the Lancers competed and won seven state championships and three state runner-up titles in 2020-2021. Salpointe was named the best high school in the state of Arizona and #31 nationally in the MaxPreps Cup rankings released this past week.

"Despite the many challenges and obstacles Salpointe athletics faced over the last year, we persevered and battled through it with great success," said Phil Gruensfelder, Salpointe athletic director. "This is a remarkable accomplishment that proves when a community works together, great things can happen."
