Salpointe Weekly Peek - December 17, 2021

Happy Friday, Lancers!

This week's prayer is shared by Suzette Rosenblatt, Salpointe Parent Association member:
Dear Lord, you know the difficult things I am dealing with. You know how my mind won't stop me thinking about everything. I feel stressed and so unsettled. I'm worried about what is going to happen. Please take my burdens and the "what if's" from me. Help me focus my thoughts on you and not worry about what could happen. Please help me to take one day at a time. Please lead and guide me and take control of this situation. Please give me your wisdom and fill me with your peace. In the name of Jesus I ask these things. Amen. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, pray for us.

Christmas Letter
Dear Salpointe Students and Families,

It’s another great day to be a Lancer! Salpointe remains committed to our sacred mission… and the signature Salpointe experience is alive and well! For many, Salpointe continues to serve as a source of faith, stability and security.

Salpointe is embracing a leadership transition as acting principal Keith Gibalski retires after 23 years here at Salpointe and 40 years in Catholic education in the Diocese of Tucson. We are forever grateful for Keith’s exceptional leadership and we thank him for meeting his commitment to serve for two years. He will be missed! As we move forward, we appreciate Michael Urbanski’s willingness to take on the role of interim principal for the spring semester. Mike has served Salpointe in many leadership capacities over his lengthy and distinguished career. Please join me in welcoming Mike to this new position.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this past semester. Together, we have faced challenging circumstances as well as enjoyed moments of great happiness. The resilience, support, faith and joy of the Salpointe community continues to bring us together.

On behalf of the Salpointe, faculty, staff and administration, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones. Have a safe and joyous break. We look forward to a happy and healthy 2022!

Kay Sullivan

Speedo Winter Junior Championships
This past weekend, Tyler Driscoll, a junior here at Salpointe, competed in the Speedo Winter Junior Championships at Jamail Texas Swim Center in Austin, Texas. She made the A Finals in the 50 freestyle with a 22.80; finishing 7th overall. She also finished 12th in the 100 Freestyle (50.02). Both of these times would have broken the Salpointe school record if we were in season, and would have earned her two additional All American Consideration Times. Congratulations!

Salpointe Esports X Cloud9 Training Grounds
Salpointe Esports worked with Cloud9 Training Grounds (C9TG) this Fall. The six-week clinics in Rocket League (RL) and League of Legends (LoL) ended as our Fall season came to a close. Our esports team was one of 16 U.S. high school programs enrolled. Our selection was based on our training objectives and willingness to pilot the program before Cloud9 expands it to include more schools. Salpointe Esports met with C9TG coaches virtually via Discord during their regular practice sessions for LoL and RL. These coaches taught Salpointe Esports athletes stretches and exercises beneficial for gamers, warm-up drills, game mechanics, strategies and in-game communications. Salpointe Esports members will continue to level up against competitors while applying new skills in our Spring season!
