Letter to Salpointe Families - August 19, 2022

August 19, 2022

Dear Lancer families,

It's another great day to be a Lancer! Yes, even with our challenges, we are embracing the essence of our Catholic Carmelite mission, charism and culture. We were delighted to start school for freshmen and transfers this past Monday and for all students on Tuesday. We are graced with the commitment and collaboration of 140 faculty and staff and with the energy of 1271 Lancers.

Our students are focused on classes, activities, lunch, etc. as they should be! Modular classrooms and new lockers should be installed in the next week or two, but in the meantime, we are fully functioning! Most classrooms are being utilized every hour of the day and teachers are traveling as needed to accommodate our students.

We started this school year with strength, resilience and hope! Employee in-service included phenomenal presentations featuring Fr. Nepi Willemsen, O.Carm., on the meaning of the Carmelite statement on human rights and Bob Logan ‘75 on finding your path to happiness and on understanding your true colors. Additionally, we enjoyed inspiring and energizing presentations from several of our faculty and staff. This positive energy should result in a joyful atmosphere here on campus all semester long.

Salpointe is committed to staying on the cutting edge in terms of our facilities and safety. Several projects were completed this summer: security improvements to the Glenn and Mountain gates, conversion of classroom 425 to a multi-use Bio/Chem lab, roof replacement of the 400 and 500 wings, completion of the well water technology project and replacement of the administration building office doors. We plan to install a new camera and security software system and a new central alarm system in the next few weeks.

Please contact me with questions, concerns, support and prayers! With gratitude,

Kay Sullivan
