Salpointe Weekly Peek - September 23, 2022

Happy Friday, Lancers!

This week’s prayer is from Stacy Lewis, Salpointe Exercise Science faculty:
Mighty God, thank you that you know me and you love me. The ability to teach is a gift from you. Help me to use the teaching gift you have given me effectively. May I be filled with your spirit to give me the enthusiasm, strength and love I need to carry out my role. Give me assurance that you are always with me. May God the Father prepare my journey, Jesus the Son guide my footsteps and the Holy Spirit watch over me, on every path that I follow. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen. Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Pray for us.

PLEASE READ THESE IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Dear Parents,

Please join me in congratulating Kathryn Bowsher '23 and Brendan Meixner '23 as Commended Students in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended students placed among 50,000 students nationwide who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

This week our homeroom teachers have continued to share PSAT strategies with their students. Please ask your child to show you the study guide they were given to prepare for this exam at home. In addition to the ZAPS Strategy Session being offered on Saturday, October 8, we are excited to announce that we will also be offering a Math PSAT Bootcamp on Saturday, October 1 from 8 am-12 pm. This bootcamp will be offered to the first 30 students who sign up. The sign up for this bootcamp will be with Mr. Pierre Mazboudi in Room 204.

Finally, this week I had the privilege of sharing a few hours with your children during their Kairos experience. Having the opportunity to witness the emotional and spiritual growth of our students, coupled with the sheer love and dedication of our teachers and campus ministry, was incredible. Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us and allowing us to be a part of their journey.

Sincerely,

Ardemis Martin
Proud Principal

Salpointe Recycle Drive
Did you know that we can recycle more than what we put out in curbside bins? As part of Salpointe’s 4R (reduce, reuse, recycle, refuse) Care for Creation efforts, we are holding a recycle drive for items that can not be easily recycled curbside. These items includes the following:
  • Paint (more than 1/3 can)
  • Batteries (rechargeable, small button, lithium, car) - please separate items
  • Electronic waste (computers, cables, printer cartridges, no CRT monitors)
Bring your hard to recycle items to the back side of the Science wing (600s) on Saturday, October 1, from 10:00 am-noon. Enter through the Glenn gate. Salpointe will collect items and ensure they are properly recycled through the City of Tucson’s HHW program. If you are unable to bring items on October 1, we will also be collecting them ahead of time on Friday, September 30.
