Salpointe Weekly Peek - October 7, 2022

Happy Friday, Lancers!

This week’s prayer is from Mrs. Urbanski's Theology class:
Father God, thank you for allowing us to be here on this day, and we ask you to help us in our everyday thoughts and decisions, so we can be more like you. Please be with us in everything we do and take care of those who need it. For without you, we are lost and need your guidance with everything. We pray this in your name. Amen. Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Pray for us.

PLEASE READ THESE IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Dear Lancer Families,

On Friday, September 30, the Universal Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) officially became state law in Arizona, allowing all families the opportunity to apply for ESA funds. These funds can be used to pay Salpointe tuition, regardless of home school district or annual income. While the referendum process is not officially complete, we are confident that the law will remain in effect and be retroactive to July 1. Timing is critical as the deadline to apply for ESA funds for the first quarter is October 15, 2022. For more information, click here.

PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT 8/9
This coming Wednesday, October 12, Juniors and Sophomores will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT. Freshmen will be taking the PSAT 8/9.

Though this is a half day, it is considered a regular school day and attendance will be taken. Students are to report directly to their homeroom, in school uniform, at the regular time of 8:10 a.m. Dismissal for the day will be at approximately 11:20 a.m. for Freshman and 11:40 a.m. for Juniors and Sophomores. *Seniors are excused for the day.

There will be two 5-minute breaks during the testing period. It is suggested you bring a snack for the break and bring water. Students will not be allowed out of the room during testing sections. Use of the restrooms will be limited to the two 5-minute breaks. Take care of business accordingly.

Bring at least two #2 pencils. Mechanical pencils are not recommended. You may also bring an approved four-function calculator, scientific calculator or graphic calculator for the math portion of the test, but it is not necessary. Check the College Board website for approved calculators (Check this link for approved calculators). Smartphones or other internet capable devices with calculator apps are NOT permitted.

Breakfast in Foundation Hall will be available. We encourage you to eat at home or in Foundation Hall! You need to fuel your brain!
Wellness Program
As we launch our Wellness Program, we are implementing some best practices to help improve the wellness of all members of our community. We are looking for a yoga instructor who can come on campus once a week after school and for a nutritionist who will work occasionally with small groups of students, faculty and staff to help guide us in making healthier choices regarding our food. As we get started, our budget is small so we are looking for members of our Salpointe community who might donate their time or work for a small stipend. If you are interested in helping with this new, innovative Wellness program, contact Mike Urbanski at murbanski@salpointe.
