Salpointe Weekly Peek - October 21, 2021

Happy Friday, Lancers!

This week’s prayer is from Mrs. Urbanski's Theology class:
Dear Father, I thank you for loving me and always taking care of me. I am so grateful that I am not invisible to you. Thank you for letting me know that you love me every day. I love this school community you have given me. Guide and protect us through this day and help us to make this school a place of great discovery, creativity, compassion and love. Amen. Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Pray for us.

Lancer Takes (to the) State!
Felipe Garcia, class of ‘23 and a third-year member of the Arizona Governor’s Youth Commission (GYC), joined the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee on Teen Mental Health at the Arizona State Capitol to present on the research he and GYC members have completed over the years around the mental health of Arizona teens. Garcia currently serves as the GYC Vice President, providing hands-on mentorship to other members from across the state to provide unique insight around the focus areas of domestic violence, distracted driving, education, mental health, and substance abuse. The insight provided is used to create recommendations that lead to changes that positively impact the lives of not just Arizona youth, but all Arizonans in every corner of our state. Way to go, Felipe!

Character Counts
Rylen reflected on the experience of failure in our lives. Recognizing that we are not perfect can be a key in looking at what we can learn from our mistakes  (A Perspective on Failure). On Thursday, Albert kept a similar vein on how we can view suffering in our lives. Scars from difficulties faced in life can be transformative, as the cross of Jesus was for us (Transforming Pain and Suffering). Follow the links to read the full commentaries!
