Salpointe Weekly Peek - November 10, 2022

Happy Thursday, Lancers!

This week’s prayer is from Director of Campus Ministry Phil Becker:
During the month of November the Catholic Church remembers all those whose early journey has ended. Eternal rest grant unto him/her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him/her. May he/she rest in peace. Amen. Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Pray for us.

Food Fight Food Drive
Hey Lancers! It's the most wonderful time of the year, and the most wonderful time to give back! That's right, Salpointe is going head-to-head with CatFoot once again for the Food Fight Food Drive. During the week of November 14-18, bring in as much food as possible and place it in the collection boxes located in Student Services, Campus Ministry (room 602), the Advancement Office (room 606) and/or the library. The winner will be determined by weight so bring as many heavy, non-perishable items as you can. All food will be donated to Interfaith Community Services. Let's beat CatFoot for a good cause!

Wellness Activity
Our Wellness team is facilitating a "Calming and Meditation" exercise to help deal with stress and anxiety. It is a great way to slow down and rid yourself of negative thoughts. We meet during the last 10 minutes of lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the chapel.

Donation Drive
The Kino Teens club is planning a donation drive to benefit Casa Alitas, the Catholic Community Services agency that provides shelter, support, and travel items to migrants who are in transit to their sponsors in the US. This drive goes through November 14.
We are collecting hygiene items for travel, specifically:
  1. toothbrushes and toothpaste
  2. deodorant
  3. wet wipes
We are also collecting jeans in good repair, especially needed are small and medium men's and women's sizes.
This effort is jointly sponsored by the Care for Creation team, in a spirit of gratitude as we enter the month of Thanksgiving, and emphasizing the "ReUse" principle of caring for creation.

Donation boxes will be located in all Theology classrooms. Thank you!
