Salpointe Weekly Peek - January 13, 2023

Weekly Peek Prayer:

Ardemis Martin, Principal

Dear Heavenly Father,
Bless over our seniors in their last months of high school. May they enjoy their final days on campus as seniors and relish every moment with their friends, teachers and coaches. Bless over them and keep them safe this semester. Just as they enjoyed the sunrise this morning as a community, help prepare them for the sunrise of the new chapter they will embark on soon. May they know they are loved and always remember, Salpointe Catholic High School will always be their home and connection to one another. Amen. Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Pray for us.

Wednesday, January 18: Schedule 2

Absence Policy
Students are permitted 12 absences per semester per class. All school absences, whether approved by the parent/guardian or not, count toward the total of 12 unless it is a school-related activity such as field trips, AIA-sanctioned athletic events, fine arts performances, Kairos or class retreats. Absence from class is when a student arrives 15 minutes after the class begins.

Parents/Guardians and students should use personal discretion as to how the 12 absences are used, e.g. doctor appointments, illness, college visits, family trips, club tournaments etc.

Students who exceed 12 absences in a class may be removed and lose credit from the course. Students would then be required to remediate the missed course in order to maintain their enrollment.

Parking Tickets
Attention Students: Parking tickets will be issued for students that park on campus without a permit. If you have lost your pass, please stop by the Spirit Store to have one reissued. 2022-2023 Parking Passes are SOLD OUT.

Early Dismissal/Leaving Campus
Students are required to provide the Attendance Office (Student Services Center) with notification via note or phone call from the parent/guardian prior to leaving campus. Students MAY NOT leave campus without clearance by the Health or Attendance Office. Parents may not remove a student from campus without prior notification to the Attendance Office. Students being picked up with a dismissal slip should report to the Attendance Office (Student Services Center). Violation of this policy may result in an unexcused absence and disciplinary consequences may be imposed.

All early dismissal requests will be retrieved from voicemail. Please be sure to give at least a two hour notice for your request to be processed. We do not have an intercom system, we have TAs taking passes to class to get students dismissed.

College Decisions
More and more students are hearing back from their early decision and early action schools. Maybe you've already heard back or maybe you're still waiting. When the time comes, a deferral or rejection can leave you feeling heartbroken.

It's an understandable reaction but remember that these outcomes don't reflect your worth or all of the wonderful qualities you will bring to your future college. The college admissions process is incredibly competitive, and there are far more talented students (such as yourself) than spots at top colleges.

If you are deferred or rejected, don't give up! Trust that there is a wonderful school awaiting you next fall. If you'd like to meet with me to discuss next steps, please let me know.

I'll be pushing this message over the next few months: As you are admitted, denied, or deferred and/or awarded scholarship money, please take a screenshot & send or forward those emails to me at: college@salpointe.org. We track this information closely!
