Salpointe Senior Receives Hispanic Heritage Youth Award

Congratulations to senior, Tino T. (second from the right), who recently received the Hispanic Heritage Youth Award at a ceremony in Phoenix.

The Hispanic Heritage Foundation was established by The White House in 1987 and its mission is to "inspire, prepare, and position Latino leaders in the classroom, community, and workforce to meet America's priorities." For 18 years the Youth Awards have honored Latino high school rising-seniors, in at least 10 regions, who have excelled in the classroom and community, and for their focus in seven categories.

Phoenix is one of the award regions and award recipients this year came from Arizona, New Mexico, and as far as El Paso, TX. The youth awardees receive grants for their education, or to fund an idea or community project to encourage actionable leadership.

This year the foundation received close to 20,000 applications and Tino was selected as the Bronze medallion recipient of the Mathematical Sciences Category in the Phoenix region. The math award was sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers. Congratulations, Tino!
