Lancers Receive Annual John Paul II Youth Leadership Awards

Each year the Diocese of Tucson recognizes teenagers who exemplify their faith through outstanding leadership. The John Paul II Award is one of the highest levels of recognition the Diocese has for youth in our community. Award winners are selected either from their home parish or from their school.

Winners are selected in three areas: Prayer and Worship, Catechesis and Evangelization, and Community Service and Social Justice.

Congratulations to Salpointe Catholic High School JPII Award winners for 2017: Brandon Mejia (Prayer and Worship); Bella Nowland (Catechesis and Evangelization), and Breana Chavez (Community Service and Social Justice), as well as sophomore Sergio Lopez who received the Prayer and Worship award as part of his Our Lady of the Valley Parish.

JPII awardees from around the diocese and their guests were honored by Bishop Kicanas at a dinner and awards presentation ceremony on April 8th at Our Mother of Sorrows Parish.
