12 Southern Arizona athletes earn WAC All-Academic honor, including two Salpointe Alumni
Former Salpointe softball standout Allison Curtis was named a Distinguished Scholar Athlete by the Mid-American Conference. The Central Michigan junior has a 3.46 GPA in mathematics.
12 standouts from Southern Arizona earned All-Academic WAC honors the conference announced on Monday: Maddie Dowdle (Pusch Ridge), Mally Gage (Marana), Sydney Madrid (Marana), Briana Myers (Santa Rita), Emily Wilkinson (Ironwood Ridge), Loriann Olson (Ironwood Ridge), Niki Gonzalez (Canyon del Oro), Ivan Estrella (Tucson), Zach Malis (Desert Christian), Billy Comeaux (Sabino), Brianna Aguilar-Beaucage (Salpointe) and Lyndsay Leikem (Flowing Wells).
This list was updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who had gone on to achieve either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level.
