Successes in Lancer Athletics!

We are two-thirds of the way through our sports seasons, and so far we have had an incredible year.
We continue to have about 85% of our student body participate in extracurricular activities, with many of those being multi-sport athletes. We are proud of:
 
Fall sports:
  • Varsity Football:  2017 Kino Region Champions and 2017 4A State Runner-Up.
  • Women's Volleyball:  Finished the regular season with a 16-1 record, winning the 4A Kino Region titled and becoming back to back 4A State Champions
  • Women's Golf:  6th place in the State Tournament.
  • Men's Golf:  9th place in the State Tournament.
  • Women's Swim/Dive:  5th place in the State meet.
  • Men's Swim/Dive:  8th place in the State meet.
  • Women's Cross Country:  Section Champions and 3rd place at the State meet.
  • Men's Cross Country:  Section Champions and 5th place in the State meet.
 
Winter sports:
  • Men's Basketball: Finished the regular season with a 9-9 record. Qualified for the State Tournament as the #11 seed and finished as the 2018 4A State Runner-Up.
  • Women's Basketball: Finished the regular season with a 13-5 record, winning the 4A Region title.  Qualified for the State Tournament as the #10 seed. Lost in the 1st round of the Tournament to #7 Cactus.
  • Wrestling: Placed 4th in the Sectional Tournament. Qualified 6 Wrestlers for the State Tournament, with Brian Corrales '18 placing 3rd in the 222 lbs weight class. Brian Corrales '18 was named the Division III Upper Weight Class Wrestler of the Year! Five other wrestlers were named All-Stars.
  • Men's Soccer: Finished the regular season with an 8-3-1 record, winning the 4A Kino Region title. Qualified for the State Tournament as the #10 seed, and reached the State Semifinals before losing 1-0 to Cortez High School.
  • Women's Soccer:  Finished the regular season with an 11-0-1, winning the 4A Kino Region title.  Qualified for the State Tournament as the #2 seed and went on a 4 game win streak, outscoring their opponents 22-0 to win back to back 4A State Championships.
  • Cheer: AIA Division II State Runner-Up - Varsity Show Cheer, AIA Division II All Girl Varsity Stunt - 3rd Place, AIA Game Day Finals - 4th place, USA Spirit Nationals Varsity Show Cheer - 2nd place.
  • Dance: Placed 5th in the AIA State Competition and qualified to compete in the National Competition in Anaheim.
 
Congratulations to three of our Lancers who earned All-American awards from the Arizona Coaches Association: Ana Alvarez-Tostado '18 for Women's Cross Country, and Alanna Duarte '18 and Peyton Lewis '18 for Women's Volleyball! 
 
18 Lancers committed to playing their respective sports at the collegiate level. Athletes include: 

Yannira Acuna, Aleena Alexander, Isabella Almazan, Ana Alvarez Tostado, Lauren Bollinger, Derick Bush, Efrain Cervantes, Daniel Durazo, Josh Escobedo, Josh Hackmyer, Annabelle Huether, Gabe Madril, Nathan Maltry, Erika Marquez, Christian Massey, Jackson McKenney, Matteo Mele, and J. Bill Rivera.


Our Spring sports season has begun! Please come out and support our Lancers as they begin their quest for more State Championships!
