Attendance

Attendance is an important part of a student’s success. Because of this, it is very important to have an accurate up-to-date attendance record for every student.

Salpointe recommends putting the attendance number, 327-1990, in the contact list of your cell phone. This procedure will allow your caller ID to identify that you are receiving a call from Salpointe attendance.

For the safety of your student, only the parent/guardian or emergency contacts can excuse or release your student from school. By following these  guidelines, the process of checking your student in or out of school should enable us to work together to achieve a positive attendance process. Please use the following information to notify Salpointe in regards to your student’s absence or tardiness:

List of 5 items.

  • Attendance Polices and Procedures

    Absence:
If your student is absent, the parent/guardian should call the 24-hour attendance line immediately, but no later than 10 am at 327-1990. Your voice mail message should include your student’s full name, ID number, and the reason for the absence. Please include a return phone number.

    Early Dismissal:
All early dismissal requests will be retrieved from voicemail. The number to use for early dismissal requests is 327-1990 and select the early dismissal prompt. Only parent/guardian can request early dismissal. Students must check out in Student Services before leaving campus.

Please be sure to give at least a two hour notice for your request to be processed in a timely manner.

    Late Arrival:
Please notify us as soon as possible via voicemail with the reason your student will be late at 327-1990. Also, include the approximate time we should be expecting your student. Your student will receive a tardy when arriving to class within the 15 minute time frame. The only tardy that is excused is when a student arrives late from a doctor appointment. The student must submit a valid document from the doctor when they check in at the gates or office.

    School-Sanctioned Absences:
Salpointe has determined that the following absences will be considered school sanctioned absences: field trips, IMPACT, Kairos, Salpointe sports team activities, and prolonged illness with physician documentation. Sanctioned absences are pre-scheduled and do not count in the 10-day absence limit. It is the student's responsibility to notify teachers in advance and make arrangements to complete all coursework.

  • Illness During the School Day

Students who become ill during the school day must get permission from their teacher to report to the Nurse's Office. The nurse will assist the student in making the appropriate arrangements to leave school early if necessary.
  • Closed Campus Policy

Salpointe has a closed campus. No student is allowed off the school grounds while school is in session unless he/she has checked out through the Attendance/Deans' Office with appropriate parental permission.
  • Emergencies

In the event of a lockdown, shelter-in-place, or other emergency event during the school day, notifications will be sent via the school's emergency communications system, SchoolWay. Download SchoolWay today, more information at www.salpointe.org/schoolway.

Please do not call the school for information, since that may hinder emergency communications.
  • School Cancellation

Although canceling school is  a rare event, if weather conditions or other situations do require the cancellation of school, notifications will be sent via the school's emergency communications system, SchoolWay, and will also be posted on the homepage of the school website.
