Harold W. "Bill" Kohl III, Ph.D. '78

Harold W. "Bill" Kohl III earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of San Diego, his Master of Science in Public Health from the University of South Carolina, and in 1993, his Ph.D. in Community Health Studies from the University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston.
Currently, Bill is a Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health – Austin Regional Campus where he is a member of the Dean's Faculty Advisory Committee, the Executive Committee for the Michael and Susan Dell Center for Advancement of Healthy Living, the Academic Affairs Council and is primary faculty advisor for the Austin Regional Campus Student Association. He is Founder and Director of the University of Texas Physical Activity and Epidemiology Program.
Bill is also a Research Professor of Kinesiology at the University of Texas College of Education in Austin, Texas where he serves on the Budget Council and he sits on the Board of Directors of the Fitness Institute of Texas.

Bill has received more than seven million dollars in research funds, is the author/co-author of over 150 scientific publications and he is the founder and president of the International Society for Physical Activity and Health.
He currently serves on the National Academy of Science's Committee on Accelerating Progress for Obesity Prevention, and is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Physical Activity and Health. He is Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education.

Bill has served on the faculty for The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention /International Union for Health Promotion and Physical Activity and Public Health Training Courses in Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Malaysia, Chile, and Thailand.
A resident of Austin, Texas, Bill shares his life with his wife, Ann "the most wonderful woman in this galaxy." Bill credits his time at Salpointe as being instrumental in forming the basis for his life and all he has been able to achieve.
