Weekly Peek – February 25, 2026

Weekly Prayer

Loving God, I come before You in need and in gratitude. In times of illness or struggle, please give me the help I need to remain strong in faith. In times of loneliness, please bestow a renewed sense of belonging. In prayer, I give You thanks that, in asking, I have already received the grace needed to believe. Amen. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, pray for us.

Lia McCovey ’26 Wins Southern Arizona Regional Poetry Out Loud Competition
Senior Lia McCovey ’26 has won the Southern Arizona Regional Poetry Out Loud Competition.
Poetry Out Loud® brings poetry to life, creating community and connection through performance. Since its founding in 2005, more than 4.5 million high school students have participated in this dynamic national recitation program. The competition helps students strengthen public speaking skills, build confidence, and deepen their appreciation for poetry.
Lia competed against eight students representing schools across southern Arizona to earn the regional title. A livestream recording of the competition is available to watch.
She will now compete in the Arizona State Finals, which will be held at the U of A Poetry Center on March 7. Come out and support Lia. “Lancers, Lancers, Let’s Take State!”
40 Days of Giving is Here!
Our 40 Days of Giving campaign is underway and runs now through April 2. This year, we are partnering with St. Peter and Paul School, with all donations benefiting the Ronald McDonald House and the families it serves in our community. To add some friendly competition, seniors and sophomores will team up against juniors and freshmen for a chance to win a free cozy day.
Lent invites us to grow in prayer, sacrifice, and generosity. During this season, we give not for recognition, but out of love, choosing compassion in meaningful and tangible ways.
View the wish list on the flyer here. For questions, please contact Ms. Uribe or Ms. DiChristofano. Every item makes a difference.

Juniors

Get Out of Town Workshop Invitation
We are hosting an upcoming Get Out of Town Workshop for students interested in applying to colleges out of state and navigating the college planning process. Two sessions will be offered this spring on March 8 and April 12. While the presentation is geared toward juniors, students and parents from any grade level are welcome to attend.
You can also view information on upcoming SAT and ACT test dates, along with preparation resources, here.
ACT for Juniors
The ACT will be offered on campus on April 24 from 8-11 a.m. in Alumni Hall. Taking the ACT as a junior helps establish a baseline score, reduces test-day stress, and supports college planning in a familiar environment. Registration is required. View flyer here.

Fine Arts

“Vision Quest: Healing with Jungian Depth Psychology and the Sacred Image” Lecture by Charles Gillespie
Speaker Charles Gillespie, MFA, LIAC, is an expressive arts therapist who integrates Jungian depth psychology, sacred imagery, and the creative process into his mental health counseling work. His approach explores how archetypal images, symbolism, and active imagination foster healing, meaning, and personal growth.
In this two-hour presentation, Jungian depth psychology will engage in dialogue with the sacred imagery of local artists, inviting participants to reflect on how images of the transcendent can open pathways to creativity, healing, and deeper understanding.
Join us March 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Stevens Gallery.  Click here for more information.
