Salpointe Catholic is excited to offer an engaging STEM camp for our future Lancers. Discover the excitement of real-world science at our Salpointe Summer STEM Camp, where curious minds dive into the wonders of scientific discovery! Campers will explore fascinating topics in ecology and ecosystems, environmental science, observe and model animal behavior and step into the cutting-edge world of biotechnology through fun experiments and hands-on activities. Perfect for young scientists who love to ask “why” and “how,” this camp inspires creativity, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation for the science that shapes our world.
The Summer STEM Camp is open to upcoming 7th and 8th graders.
Dates: June 22 – 26.
The camp is from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM Monday through Thursday. And 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Friday.
Camp activities include:
- Extract DNA from an arthropod and use PCR and gel electrophoresis to detect the presence of a symbiotic bacteria.
- Build a robot buggy that mimics phototaxis in animals.
- Examine evidence for life, nutrient cycles, and carbon in soils
- Find out what lives in the ground we walk on

Do you need to “Kickstart” Your College Application Essay?
The KICKSTART U College Application Workshop is an innovative program designed to help students tell their unique stories to the colleges they aspire to attend. Our program employs proven strategies for developing a winning application packet. For 15 years, our students have benefitted from individualized attention in an enthusiastic environment that promotes engagement, reflection, and creativity. Our workshop size is limited to ensure that all students receive the attention they deserve. Our program is designed to meet the needs of students who intend to apply to out-of-state schools and competitive universities and programs. The workshop will focus on writing college essays with experienced SCHS English teacher Mr. Tim Evans. Tara McCall and Leah Evans, our College Counselors, will work with students on the college admissions process and preparing college applications.
Upon completion of the Kickstart U College Application Workshop, Students Will Have:
- Multiple Application Essay Drafts
- Toolkit for Producing and Polishing Successful Application Essays
- Personal Feedback on Essay Drafts
- Brag sheet and Academic Resume Support
- The Common App Preparation Support
- Tools for Finding the Right Schools and Scholarship Opportunities
Kickstart U is a 2-week program running from 8:10 AM – 11:00 AM Starting May 26-May 29 & June 1-June 4. We will cap the class at 15 students. First come first served.
