60 Years of Faith, Service, and Love: Celebrating Sr. Jeanne

Salpointe alumna Sister Jeanne Bartholomeaux ’64 recently celebrated 60 years of religious life as a Sister of Charity of Seton Hill. A native of Tucson, Sr. Jeanne’s journey began at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School and continued through her time at Salpointe Catholic High School.

On Saturday, November 8, Sr. Jeanne was honored at a Liturgy of Thanksgiving at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Tucson, which recognized more than 30 priests, nearly 20 deacons, and more than a dozen religious brothers and sisters whose vocations were inspired within the Diocese of Tucson. Reverend Richard Rivera, pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church, presided over the Mass.

Reflecting on her vocation, Sr. Jeanne said, “I have so much to be grateful for, it’s been 60 years. I’ve had wonderful experiences, challenges, but lots of growth and support along the way. We all have and that’s what we celebrated.” She also noted the special connection to her hometown parish, where the priest who baptized her, Father Francis Green—later the fourth bishop of the diocese—was present at her perpetual vows.

Sr. Jeanne lived in the convent next to Saints Peter and Paul in midtown Tucson for 30 years and emphasized the importance of community in her vocation. “God’s plan for me has sent me in so many directions to encounter grace in the people I served. The Charity of Christ continues to nudge me toward the next encounter of grace,” she shared. She called the liturgy a “lovely day of grace” and a reminder that no vocation is lived alone.

Salpointe Catholic High School proudly recognizes Sr. Jeanne’s 60-year milestone as part of its celebration of 75 years of forming students in faith, service, and community.
