Salpointe Weekly Peek – August 28, 2026

Weekly Prayer

Heavenly Father, When I dream big, Increase my faith, too, For with You all things are possible. When I feel stuck, Please stay by me, For Your plan isn’t always easy to see. When I am disheartened, Please renew my spirit, For my greatest hope is in You. Amen. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, pray for us.

General Announcements

A Message from Principal Martin: Lancers Leading Beyond Salpointe!
It is with great pride that I share that Marcus Castillo ’27 and Gabe Saucedo ’27 have been selected to serve as members of the 2026–2027 Governor’s Youth Commission!
The Governor’s Youth Commission empowers young people to become actively involved in government matters that impact Arizona’s youth. Commissioners work collaboratively on important issues affecting young people and communities across our state.
Our Lancers are already taking on meaningful leadership roles. Gabe manages the service hours of all commissioners, while Marcus leads the Domestic Violence Awareness group. Both young men are doing important work that extends well beyond our campus and serves the greater Arizona community.
Marcus and Gabe are shining examples of our Carmelite mission in action, using their gifts of leadership and commitment to service to make a difference in the lives of others.
We could not be more proud to call them Lancers! Please join me in congratulating Marcus and Gabe on this tremendous accomplishment and thanking them for representing Salpointe with such distinction.
Way to go, Marcus and Gabe!

Early Dismissal/Leaving Campus
If your student needs to leave campus early, please notify the Attendance Office at least two hours in advance to allow time for processing. You can call 520-327-1990 or email attendance@salpointe.org.
To ensure the safety of all students, the following procedures must be followed:
  • A parent or guardian must provide prior notification to the Attendance Office before a student may leave campus.
  • Students are not permitted to leave campus without clearance from either the Attendance Office or the Health Office.
  • Parents may not remove a student from campus without checking in through the Attendance Office first.
  • Students who are being picked up during the school day must report to the Attendance Office to receive a dismissal slip.
Failure to follow these procedures may result in an unexcused absence and/or disciplinary action.
After-School Tutoring
Stuck on an assignment, catching up after an absence, or getting ready for a test? Bring your work to the library and sit down with someone who can help! After-school tutoring will begin next week. Stop by the library Monday-Thursday from 2:45-4:00 p.m. for help with your schoolwork. No appointment is needed. Just show up and sign in when you arrive. View flyer here.

Navigating College Admissions: Monthly Parent Information Sessions
The College Counseling Office invites parents to join a virtual monthly information series designed to guide families through every stage of the college application process. Each session will focus on a different key topic, providing helpful insights, practical advice, and an opportunity to ask questions and connect with the College Counseling team. Session 2: Researching Colleges will be held Wednesday, September 16, from 9–9:30 a.m. via Google Meet. View the video call link.
Homecoming Weekend
Join us for one of our favorite Salpointe traditions! Homecoming Weekend is September 25-26, and the entire Lancer community is invited to celebrate with great food, football, faith, and lifelong friendships. Kick off the weekend on Friday, September 25, with the Lancer Tailgate Party at 5 p.m. in Foundation Hall & Carmelite Plaza, featuring a Tucson Tamale feast, entertainment, non-alcoholic beverages, and admission to the 7 p.m. Homecoming football game vs. the Highland Hawks at Ed Doherty Stadium. Tickets are just $20 per person and can be purchased here. On Saturday, September 26, join us for Homecoming Mass at 10 a.m. in the Corcoran Theater. Whether you’re an alumnus, student, parent, grandparent, faculty member, or friend of Salpointe, we hope you’ll join us and celebrate what it means to be a Lancer.
Help Our Photography Students Capture Their Creativity
As our school transitions to a phone-free environment, Photo 1 is also moving away from using phone cameras. To help make this transition possible, we are collecting donations of gently used digital cameras, especially point-and-shoot models.
If you have a working camera you no longer use, we’d greatly appreciate your donation! If possible, please include batteries, charging cords, memory cards, or other accessories.
Donations can be dropped off at Student Services, or sent with a student to Room 416. If you have any questions, please email krashka@salpointe.org. Thank you for your generosity and support! Your donation will help provide engaging, hands-on creative opportunities for our photography students.
Second Collection September 26-27
Catholic Schools’ Second Collection is September 26-27! How does your donation help? The funds raised through this collection enable the Department of Catholic Schools to support our 24 Catholic schools and provide resources that directly strengthen Catholic education across the Diocese of Tucson. Your generosity will help support:
  • Principal and leadership formation and support
  • New Catholic school leaders support and development
  • Administrative meetings for school leadership and professional development opportunities
  • Support for school Pastors
  • Support for the annual Celebration of Catholic Schools event
  • Initiatives that strengthen the faith formation and development of students, school employees, and school leaders
