Salpointe Weekly Peek – August 29, 2025

Weekly Prayer

Today, as we celebrate the memorial of the Passion of Saint John the Baptist, we mourn the horrific attack that took place Wednesday morning during Mass at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. John the Baptist, a pure, innocent and faithful man, lost his life because someone became obsessed with their hatred. We pray for the comfort of John’s proclamation, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.”
This prayer for peace was written by Pope John Paul II:
Lord Jesus Christ, who are called the Prince of Peace,
who are yourself our peace and reconciliation,
who so often said, “Peace to you,” grant us peace.

Make all men and women witnesses of truth, justice,
and brotherly love.
Banish from their hearts whatever might endanger peace.

Enlighten our rulers that they may
guarantee and defend the great gift of peace.
May all peoples on the earth
become as brothers and sisters.
May longed for peace blossom forth
and reign always over us all. Amen.

Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Pray for us.

They also joined him for his first Mass at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Catholic Church. We are grateful for Fr. Roberto’s faith and leadership, and we look forward to the many ways he will continue to bless our community.
