Dear Salpointe Parents and Guardians,
As part of our commitment to supporting our students’ educational journeys, we are excited to offer the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) to all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors on Friday, October 17th. The PSAT is more than just a test; it is an essential tool that helps prepare students for the challenges of college admissions and beyond by assessing critical reading, writing, and math skills.
Why Should Your Child Take the PSAT?
- Preparation for the SAT: The PSAT serves as a practice test for the SAT, familiarizing students with the test format, question types, and timing. This early exposure helps reduce test-day anxiety and can lead to improved performance on the actual SAT.
- Scholarship Opportunities: For juniors, the PSAT doubles as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT). High-scoring students may be recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program, opening doors to significant scholarship opportunities that can help offset the cost of college.
- College and Career Readiness: The PSAT provides detailed feedback on your child’s academic strengths and areas for improvement. This feedback is crucial for identifying where to focus as they prepare for college and future careers, allowing them to build a solid foundation for success.
PSAT Bootcamps
To ensure students are well-prepared, we are pleased to offer no-fee PSAT Bootcamps on the following Saturdays: September 13, 20, and 27 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Each session will focus on either Math or English and will include:
- Test-Taking Strategies: Tips and techniques to approach different types of questions.
- Key Concept Reviews: In-depth reviews of the most important topics.
- Practice Opportunities: Timed practice sessions that simulate the actual test environment, helping students build confidence and stamina.
Next Steps
Please mark your calendars for these important dates, and encourage your child to sign up for the Bootcamps and take the PSAT seriously. If you have any questions about the PSAT, our Bootcamps, or how to support your child’s preparation, please do not hesitate to contact me. We are here to support your child’s academic success and ensure they have all the tools necessary to achieve their goals.
Sincerely,
Jenna Elias
