Easter Break Letter to Families from Kay Sullivan

Dear Lancer Families,

In this Holy Week, I send gratitude to you, our Salpointe community: our teachers, staff, students, parents, alumni, boards and committees! This COVID-19 crisis has challenged our sense of balance and our carefully orchestrated strength of infrastructure, procedures and educational programming. But we are resilient and we are survivors...and we will continue to support each other with prayer, grace, compassion and assistance.

As I mention in my upcoming Lancer Life letter, Easter is about love, healing and hope, all needed more than ever by our suffering world. Each of us needs to receive -- as well as to give -- love, healing and hope. How? Be open to the tenderness and caring offered by others. We are often too tough, too self-assured, too contrary to accept the gentle caring of others. Let yourself be open and be vulnerable; welcome the embrace and show the giver gratitude in return. Then pass it on. Reach out and be the love for someone living alone; be the healing by praying for someone who needs your prayers; be the hope for someone who may be hungry or homeless or simply exhausted.

Embrace the joyful moment that results when you touch someone, when you ease their fears, when you reassure another person that you are there for them. Look for the beauty, the goodness, the precious moments that shine through this chaos. Be assured that this love, this healing and this hope are Jesus’s promises in His death and resurrection.

Thank you, Salpointe community, for your flexibility, strength and resilience, for your gratitude and inspiration, for your commitment to one another, and for your tangible faith as we struggle through this unprecedented crisis together. May God bless you and keep you safe.

Happy Easter!
