Dr. Tad DeWald '97

As a fellowship-trained non-surgical sports medicine physician, Dr. Tad DeWald '97 has experience in both traditional and minimally invasive techniques for the treatment of orthopaedic conditions. Currently serving patients at Tucson Orthopaedic Institute, he has used orthobiologics and regenerative medicine procedures, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP), human amnion/chorion membrane and bone marrow or processed lipoaspiration stem cells to treat patients for the last 8 years. All injections are done under ultrasound guidance to provide clinical accuracy. Dr. DeWald works closely with physical therapists, athletic trainers and other health-related disciplines in order to assist patients in their recovery process from injuries, and helps them reach their ultimate goal of returning to their everyday activities or sports at their optimal potential. He is currently a team physician for the Tucson Roadrunners and Sabino High School. He has previously worked with the Birmingham Barons, University of Alabama, SEC baseball, American Athletic Conference Championships, Wayne State University, Samford University, West Alabama University, Madonna University, Birmingham Southern University, and for various high schools and marathon/cycling/triathlon racing events.
