Carlos' Story

"As soon as I finished my first day of school, I knew Salpointe was a place where I wanted to spend my four years of high school at," said Carlos Maldonado, class of 2024.

Carlos is a sophomore at Salpointe Catholic. In addition to strong academic work inside the classroom, he enjoys many extracurriculars, including playing basketball, football and track, hiking, dancing and spending time with his family and friends.

Carlos attends Salpointe with the assistance of an endowed scholarship. This scholarship fund supports Salpointe's mission of providing a holistic education that fosters faith, encourages the pursuit of excellence, develops servant leaders, affirms the dignity of individuals and promotes global social justice. It provides students like Carlos an opportunity to become a Lancer and explore the many opportunities offered on campus.

"The school's structure and community have made Salpointe a place where I look forward to going everyday as I have matured and grown as a person," Carlos said.

The decision to attend Salpointe is one that can change the trajectory of a young person's life.

"The Salpointe experience has made him more thoughtful, more apt to view things differently, and more responsible," said his mother, Gabriela. "His daily schoolwork and extra-curricular activities have taught him to better administer his time, so now he has a job, and the school experience has helped him manage his work hours and his demeanor with his supervisors."

Carlos has enjoyed his time at Salpointe so much that he is referring his friends to attend. A Lancer education is a lifetime bond. 'Once a Lancer, Always a Lancer!'

"He enjoys it and it has brought a new outlook on his life," his mother, Gabriela, said. "He loves his school and looks forward to being there. Our family relishes his happiness."
