Salpointe Drama presents: The Man Who Came To Dinner, an enduring comedic masterpiece from Moss Hart and George F. Kauffman. Set in Mesalia, Ohio in 1939, the irascible and acerbic Sheridan Whiteside is gallivanting across the country on his annual lecture tour. The famous Manhattan radio personality slips on an icy stoop outside the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stanley. Whiteside upends the Stanley home with his egotistical demands and unwanted meddling. He encourages the Stanley children to defy their parents, receives strange and exotic gifts and hosts a menagerie of highly unusual guests. Meanwhile, his beloved secretary has given her notice after falling in love with a local reporter. Whiteside must engage every weapon in his considerable arsenal of guile and manipulation to keep her in his employ, including blackmail, deceit, and the intervention of the seductive actress Lorraine Sheldon and the elegant British wit of playwright Beverly Carlton. A three-ring circus of comedic machinations draws the audience into this timeless classic.
