General Announcements

Parent Teacher Conferences
Parents: Please join us for the Spring Semester Parent-Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 in the Kalil Family Gym and Alumni Hall from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Please park in the Glenn Lot and bring a copy of your student's schedule. Class counselors will also be available to meet with you. See you then!
 
Salpointe Summer School
Salpointe summer school will be offering classes in English and Math only. Students need to talk with their class counselor about summer school information and registration.

English Class offerings (English classes are not offered for acceleration): English I, English I Honors, English II, English II Honors and American Literature

Math Class offerings:
Algebra I (This class is not offered for acceleration)
Geometry (acceleration is available for those students approved by the Math Department. Students must attend class at Salpointe).
Algebra II (acceleration is available for those students approved by the Math Department. Students must attend class at Salpointe).

Students need to have submitted a course waiver for summer school acceleration. See Mr. Mounts in room 304 if not sure how to submit a course waiver.
 
Session I Dates: May 28, 2024, to June 11, 2024. There is school on Fridays.
Session II Dates: June 12, 2024 to June 27, 2024. There is no school on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. There is school on Fridays in session II.
 
Class time is from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm. Tuition cost is $250 per session. Students are allowed only one absence in summer school.

Junior League Cinderella's Closet
Junior League of Tucson is hosting Project Cinderella's Closet on Saturday, March 23, from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at 2099 E. River Rd. This year, they are also open by appointment from Monday, March 18-Friday, March 22. For a weekday appointment, please contact cinderellascloset@juniorleagueoftucson.org. Any high school student who is in need of a gown, accessories, jewelry, shoes etc. for prom is welcome to browse through their inventory of previously owned and donated items. It is FREE and the student may select whatever they choose. This is a fantastic opportunity to select a beautiful gown, shoes and all of the accessories free of charge. 
 
Tucson Youth and Peace Leadership Program
Tucson Youth and Peace (TYP) is a leadership program whose mission is to promote peace, justice, and sustainability in Tucson. TYP provides the opportunity to enhance leadership skills through its year-long peace leadership training program, where students are in charge of planning and leading the Annual Youth and Peace Conference, and receive training on useful vocational and social/emotional skills. This is a paid opportunity. Apply here.
 
College Knowledge for Fr, So & Jr Students and Parents
This workshop is for students and parents to gain a better understanding of the college application process, including: timeline, how to prepare and how to pay for college. It's never too early to start thinking about future plans! Sunday, March 3 at 3:00 p.m. in Foundation Hall. Please register to attend.

Senior Tribute Ad Extension
Parents of seniors: We still have some ad space available, so the deadline for quarter-page ads has been extended through today, Friday, February 16. Note: This is an extension only to fill up extra space. First come, first served. Limited availability until sold out.

Juniors

College Planning for Juniors
Mrs. McCall met with all Juniors during their Community Period for a College Planning Meeting for Juniors to help them find colleges that might be a good fit through our college counseling platform called Scoir, do a career assessment and take a survey to help us understand their future goals. This semester is all about exploration and finding out what colleges are out there that fit the person they are and the person they hope to be! Much more information is available for juniors and parents in the February College Planning Newsletter.
 
Get Out of Town Workshop
This workshop is for Juniors who are considering applying out of the state of Arizona. The following workshop dates are available: Saturday, March 16th at 3:00 p.m., Foundation Hall, or Saturday, April 13th at 3:00 p.m. (Virtual). Register here.

Arizona Tuition Connection - Scholarship Coaching Session
Monday, March 4, 2024 | 6:00 p.m.
Do you have questions about what scholarships your family can receive?  Learn how there are scholarships available for all students in low, medium and high income families. It is not too late to receive funding; Arizona Tuition Connection does not have any application deadlines! This one hour training will give you the education and tools you need to be successful in maximizing your scholarship awards. Every parent should plan on attending! We will meet on campus in the Click Family Library.  

Financial Aid Independent Review (FAIR) - 24/25 School year - Applications now open!
You can apply to FAIR at www.fairapp.com using Salpointe's School Code: 800 and School Password: ctso800. The deadline to apply is April 20, 2024. Please note: although applications are submitted through FAIR, all funds come from Catholic Tuition Support Organization (CTSO). Please be sure to select the correct school year when applying.

Institute for Better Education (IBE) - now accepting applications for the 24/25 school year! Also still accepting applications for the current 23/24 school year.
IBE not only offers financial need-based awards, but they also accept Arizona tax credit recommendations for Salpointe students. Please apply at www.ibescholarships.org. A new application must be completed each school year. Please be sure to select the correct school year.

Don't forget to check our February hours online! We will be open late on February 20th until 5:30 p.m. for Parent/Teacher Conferences.
 
The Spirit Store will be closed for Rodeo Days, Thursday and Friday, February 22-23. We will reopen February 26 at 7:30 a.m.
 
Please encourage students to pay and pick up any club polos that have been ordered in a timely fashion. If you have a gift card from last year or older, please be sure to redeem your balance by the end of this month. New gift cards are available and make great gifts! We look forward to serving you.

Repeat Announcements

Early Dismissal/Leaving Campus
Attendance Line number is 520-327-1990.
Please be sure to give at least a two hour notice for your request to be processed. All early dismissal requests are retrieved from voicemail. We do not have an intercom system, we have TAs taking passes to class to get students dismissed.
 
Care for Creation Recycle Drive
Salpointe will be hosting its 2nd annual Care for Creation drive. This year's event will include collection of recyclables that can not be disposed of curbside AND care for our animal friends.
 
On Saturday, March 16, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, bring in old paint (⅓ can or more), batteries (rechargeable, Alkaline, small button, lithium) and e-waste (computers, cell phones, cables, etc.-no CRT screen). Also, bring in dog/cat food and used blankets or towels for animals awaiting homes at Pima Animal Care Center. Free collars and engraved tags will be available to take home for your pets.
 
Collection will take place on the north side of the Science wing. Enter through the Glenn St. Entrance. For more information, contact greenlancer@salpointe.org.
 
Prayer Book
In celebration of Salpointe's 75th Anniversary next year, the school is publishing a prayer book. We invite all students and parents to submit prayers that are special to them or create their own. Please send prayers and any questions to prayerbook@salpointe.org
 
After School Tutoring
Tutoring is available Monday-Thursday, from 3:00-4:15 p.m. to get help with homework and studying. Tutoring in Math, English, Science, Social Studies, Spanish and Theology is offered. Students should report to the sign in table between Rooms 408 and 411. Everyone is welcome. Attendance for tutoring can be viewed through myPointe to monitor students' participation. Salpointe Thrift Shop
The Salpointe Thrift Shop is in need of volunteers and donations! The store is located at 1705 E. Fort Lowell Road. For more information, call 520-327-5576
